Have a Little Faith By Mitch Albom (Summary 1)

"Will you write my eulogy," (pg 3.) That isn't a question you often hear. This nonfiction story is all about Mitch Albom and how this one question changed his life. He was Jewish but wasn't deeply religious. He went to temple like most do and that is where he met a rabbi. He had seen him there often and saw he was one of the only kids paying attention. One day out of the blue, he asked Albom to write his eulogy. Albom didn't know what to say....he barley even knew the guy. It is like a stranger coming up to you and saying will you speak at my funeral. I can only imagine the reaction and questions going through his head. Is the rabbi dying?,is something going to happen?, why did he asked me? These are only some of the big questions i would assume he is thinking of. Mitch may have been young but he was smart. He wasn't going to write a eulogy for someone he barely knew. He wanted to get to know him before he made any decisions. It is a very awkward situation after all. Even if he is going to get to know the guy what will he ask him. he isn't going to say something like what is your last will and testament. Most people including myself wouldn't have the courage to agree to do this for someone you hardly know at first but later on will probably become friend with before they dies. In most cases and books if you hang out with someone long enough and they aren't the bag guy, you will become friends with them. Imagine standing at a funeral for your friend speaking about them for the last time. When you agreed your feelings wouldn't be as powerful as they are in the end. You have gained a friend...but lost one too...and if he soesn't think this through, he might regret it.

The memory Keepers Daughter (Summary 2)

If you have been following along with me you will know that the little girl who is named Phoebe had just been diagnosed with Down Syndrome. The mother had just delivered twins but luckily the other baby boy is healthy as can be. Down Syndrome is nothing to play around with and anyone i know would do anything to make sure there kids are safe. Phoebes dad is no different. Ohh..the reason i just mentioned her dad was because her dad (David) felt it would be best if her mom (Norah) didn't know. Instead when she woke up from sedation, he had told her that there little girl had died. how could he do that to her? She was her baby too; why would he lie to her like that? i could only think of one reason which still gives him no excuse. He probably figured that it would upset her to much and she wouldn't be able to deal with all that they would have to go through. but on the other hand telling her the baby is dead doesn't make it any better. Anyway, the baby wasn't dead and David decided to give her to the nurse that helped deliver her. By the way she had a big crush on him so that wasn't probably the smartest idea. David had told nurse Caroline to take her to an institute where she could be treated. Instead though, Caroline ran away with her since she figured that Norah already thought Phoebe was dead. That still doesn't give her any excuse though to take someones child away. I would listen to the parents because they know what was best. Although he agreed this whole plan still wasn't right. David didn't completely shut her out of her life...Caroline and him wrote letters which gave him information on his daughter. Normally, something this big won't stay a secret forever. I don't know though; it may be possible that Norah will never know the truth.

"The memory Keepers Daughter" by Kim Edwards represents the story of a tragic hit on a family...not physically though, mentally. A soon to be mom and dad take a trip up to the mountains. It probably wasn't the smartest thing since she was almost 8 months pregnant. Anyway, they ended up going and ironically, she does go into labor. Luckily the soon to be dad is a doctor and is prepared to deliver the baby is the cold snow. How often does that happen though? Not everyone will have a doctor with them and it was kind of dumb of her to be out there in the first place. The baby was delivered...it was a beautiful baby boy, perfectly healthy. Then...another baby?...a little girl though. When i say little, i mean little. She is very much underweight and almost tiny enough to be fitting in the palm of your hand. When they arrive at a hospital, the little girl is treated right away. The poor parents...i can just imagine how upsetting this must be. Ohhh i forgot to mention that the little girls life is at risk..but you probably figured that out from everything i have already mentioned. Just when you think this is bad enough (besides death) they find out the little girl has down syndrome. This is what the basis of the book will be revolved around. This tragic tale should never be brought upon anyone in real life. If they stay strong and stick together, they will be able to make it through together.
