And Sometimes Why

Helen was an average girl who left the house one morning to go out for a while. She said goodbye to her parents and told them she would see them later. Little did she know that she wouldn't be returning home. Helen was riding with a guy she met on the back of a motorcycle when they collide with another car. Her parents got a call saying that Helen was in the hospital. I can't even imagine what they were thinking. They had just seen her that morning and now they hear she was in a car crash. When they arrived they were told that Helen was in a coma and might never wake up again. That is a lot to take in at one moment. They stood over her watching her connected to so many tubes knowing that she might not make it. They refused to believe that though. That is good for Helen's sake because it can help her come back. Her parents came everyday to sit with her, just watching her get weaker. At one point the doctors had to talk to them about removing her from the hospital. It wasn't her place anymore but her parents refused to give up. Unfortunately, her family did not all stay strong together. With everything that had been going on led her parents to disagreement and eventually separated. Her sister was with a boy who wasn't a good choice for her and the man who caused her accident said his life was falling apart. They can't blame this all on Helen though, not that they did. It seems like her accident led to all of these events but she had nothing to do with them. It would be very hard for Helen if she did wake up to see how different everything had become. Even though her parents weren't together they still visited her...just separately. Her school friends also made recordings that the doctors played for her. They weren't sure if she could hear anything but it was possible. All of what has happened just makes you think about how an event that first effects just one person, has an equal effect on everyone around them.
